INTRODUCTION- MUSICIAN AND COMPOSER
I am primarily an experimental electronic musician, synthesist, and composer. I have written and recorded well over 300 pieces of music under my own name and for other artists and organisations. I am also a keyboard player and write contemporary classical music for the piano and various electronic instruments. I am also a drum machine programmer and sound designer. I also play some drums and World percussion instruments, mainly bongos, congas, djembe, dumbek, and the cajón.
EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE
I work with a variety of acoustic and virtual instruments and use a variety of DAWs ranging from the quite underrated Garage Band to Ableton Live 11 Suite, Reason, Cubase, and Protools. I can send and receive files in all necessary formats for collaboration with online partners and clients. Ableton Live 11 Suite is my favourite and primary working environment with basic demos being created in Garage Band and Cubase.
LYRICIST, TRANSLATOR AND INTERPRETER
I also write lyrics for a variety of styles of music in English, Spanish, French, Italian, Latin, and Catalan. Most of my lyric work of late has been in Spanish and Catalan as I am currently working on a new project which involves a song cycle related to life during the Spanish Civil War. I am educated as a translator and interpreter as well as a language teacher. My native languages are English, French, and Spanish. I have native fluency in Catalan, Italian, Occitan, and Continental Portuguese. I have translated song lyrics from several languages into English and vice versa.
INFLUENCES FROM AROUND THE WORLD
My influences are tremendously varied and depend upon the style of music that I am performing or composing. They range in the Western tradition from Pete Townshend, Peter Gabriel, Jean-Michel Jarre, Tony Banks, and Elton John to J.S. Bach, Messiaen, Philip Glass, Wendy Carlos, and Rachmaninov. I am also heavily influenced by World music, especially Indian classical music, Arabic music of various styles, and West African music. I am also influenced by numerous Cuban and Spanish musical forms and musicians and they too make their way into my creative melting pot. Just listen to my music and you will hear a bit of everything.
SOLO AND CHORAL VOCALIST
In addition, I am also a vocalist (second tenor)with some limited classical training and experience. I have performed solo in France, Spain, and the United States in various music styles from flamenco and English pop to French chanson and sacred choral music at Carnegie Hall in New York. I have worked under the direction of the renown English choral composer John Rutter. I am a member of the nonprofit Continuo Arts Foundation Civic Chorale based in Summit, NJ ( https://continuoarts.com ). We are currently Choir in Residence at Carnegie Hall.
I am a multi-cultural person who enjoys singing and playing many styles of music in many languages. I am open to collaborating with any artist in any genre in any way that I might be useful to a song or project. I am here to serve the music, whatever comes my way!
