Smurfs - The Mountain (NES, 1994) by Alberto J. González (McAlby) published on 2014-09-14T21:18:00Z Of all my game soundtracks this is probably the track which makes less sense of all. A Smurfs game, the mountains stage, and a reggae tune? Don't ask me why, I just thought it sounded nice at the time. It doesn't use PCM sounds for the drums, it's all done with the triangle, rectangular and noise channels. The Smurfs was also the last game for which I drew the sprites too, then focused on composing and programming music only. I'd love to dedicate this track to (Hip) Tanaka-san, fantastic musician and also designer of both the sound chips of the NES and Game Boy consoles. Recorded from emulator. Genre Gamemusic Comment by Zilai Dávid One of my favorite song from this game, the second one is the song of act 7. Is it possible to find sheet music for these or midi file maybe? I would live to play it on different isntruments! 2023-12-30T12:13:24Z Comment by Thomas Hubert Some serious monkey island vibes imho 2023-04-02T22:48:04Z Comment by Akarkas gameboy version is better it my favorite track on gb memories 90s from morocco north africa 2022-01-18T01:21:58Z Comment by CisixBird also, the Gameboy is the "original" version of the music? As in, this version is the way the music was ment to sound like? 2020-04-27T10:07:50Z Comment by CisixBird Thanks for your explanation. That also confirms why for example the "River Smurf" theme only exists in the GB version right? I would love to have more information about the music differences in the platforms. 2020-04-27T10:07:05Z Comment by CisixBird Why is this track not exact the same as the Gameboy Version? The Gameboy version sounds better 2020-04-25T17:24:55Z Comment by Fabchaotix this music was just amazing =) 2019-09-20T10:15:03Z Comment by YorkshireLakeside I’m really liking this track, if someone has a midi for it I’d like to remake it. At first I thought you used DPCM for the woodblock-like sound, but I should've known. :P 2016-10-30T00:19:29Z Comment by Falcon What 2016-06-20T17:01:25Z Comment by diamondthorns This is still one of my favorite compositions of yours. It brings back to childhood (It was first my very first game, packaged with the console as we can see in the picture). And now, i can say "thank you", you worked on a really cool game with catchy themes, and this one is probably my favorite (maybe one day i'll upload a cover of mine as tribute ! ^^). Once again, thanks for all the hours i spent on this piece of fun when i was a little boy ! 2015-02-16T00:37:32Z Comment by dimeback Ah, the Follin instrumentation inspiration is high with this one.
