Laura Leigh1991 Laura Leigh Liverpool Influenced by Soul music from an early age Laura Leigh grew up listening to the likes of Mary J Blige, Alicia Keys and Joss Stone. Also being a big fan of Pop Music, this has led to creating her own style that she calls “Soul with a Pop twist”. Being part of a roadshow, Laura Leigh performed across many festivals and events throughout the Northwest gaining a lot of attention along the way. Entering local competition Urban Idol Laura Leigh won an award for artist with the most potential to succeed in the industry presented by Richard Blackwood. She was then picked out from the crowd by 70s soul group The Real Thing and went on to support the group for at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. Writing her own original songs, she has also previously been featured as BBC’s unsigned artist of the month and received radio play on Radio1Xtra and BBC Merseyside where she performed live on air. Laura is currently a finalist in the UK Songwriting Competition with her song Empty Sheets.
