Hamish (The Goalie) - by Michael Marra - sung by Leo Sayer by Leo Sayer published on 2012-10-24T12:57:40Z A very rough copy, but here's me singing Michael Marra's "Hamish". The song is about Hamish McAlpine, the inspiring goalkeeper for Michael's beloved Dundee United during their peak years in the Scottish league. The song was written for the player's testimonial. When Michael played this to me, I knew I had to record it. The words are brilliant: " ...a European tie in the pouring rain, Gus Foy pointed to the side of the goal, sayin' there's Grace Kelly by Taylor Brothers Coal" That's Ian Lynn on piano and (I believe) Andy Pask on the Fretless Bass... R.I.P. Michael, you and your songs were (and still are) very much loved... Comment by Garry Crowe even as a Dundee fan I love this.. 2014-01-18T07:07:24Z Comment by Keith Altham All goalies and wicket keepers are mad y'know - I was a wicket keeper. NIce song. 2013-12-31T10:07:50Z Comment by Jeff Lockhart 1 Found this accidentally and it is an excellent tribute to Michael 2012-12-29T15:56:36Z Comment by Stu Ivins Good job Leo. Nice harmonica. Stewart Ivins x 2012-10-25T00:41:03Z Comment by Jim Gellatly A wonderful version of the song... though I don't think he was actually a Dundee Utd supporter. Michael Marra rest in peace. 2012-10-24T23:55:20Z
