PREMIERE : Kraak & Smaak feat. Nic Hanson – Say The Word(Makèz Vibe Dub) by Les Yeux Orange published on 2021-02-12T23:48:15Z A year on from its initial release Kraak & Smaak ‘Pleasure Centre’ gets remixed. Gathering a cast of star-studded collaborators, the result is a bumper package to be savoured of unreleased cuts plus a few that saw that light of day in 2020. Lead track ‘Twilight’ gets a pair reworks courtesy of Belgian vibist and Eskimo mainstay Aeroplane, plus label regular Titeknots. The former goes full on disco, whilst the latter opts for a more subdued rendition of the track. ‘DWTTBO’ gets three mixes - Jean Tonique takes us on a slo-moving, folk-informed ride, Knight One dishes out a slice of 80s-nostalgia, 8-bit-friendly melodies and soulful vox, while Saison takes the original and turns it into a fully funk filtered-house affair. Kerem Akdag’s revamp of ‘Soul Liberator’ is a Trip-hop-infused ballad, whilst Georges’ remix of ‘Naked’ eases you into a playful storm of octave-shifting chords and piano stabs. ‘Naked’ is also remixed by Stripped, who takes us to full-out dancefloor function, whilst Fouk translate the same cut into their own playful sound grammar. Turbotito’s extended version of ‘Pleasure Centre’ blends Middle Eastern vibes that turn into an acid roller. Adding his ever-delicate touch to the dreaminess of ’Sommeron’, Satin Jackets brings you to a more soothing environment, whilst Feiertag drowns the track in multiple layers of FX that weave a whole new dancefloor narrative. French producer Yuksek casts a classic late 70s-early 80s net over ‘Sweet Time’ delivering a space-op cut that Cerrone wouldn’t disown. Rodney Hunter tackles ‘In Plain Sight’ with a true-school, disco house approach, full to the brim with funk-oozing slaps and string-laden momentums. Taking on ‘Say the Word’ are UK house veteran Atjazz and Heist affiliate Makèz respectively rendering a downtempo ballad and more muscular workout blended with Balearic guitars and feverish congas. True Romance boss Tensnake and Full Pupp main operator Prins Thomas take on ‘Same Blood’. Tensnake amps up the tempo, whilst Thomas stresses on the in-betweens to form his trademark spaced-out, wonky hybrid. Fatnotronic & Emmo’s reshape of ‘Echo Park’ has some very intricate drum programming, while ‘Out in The Daylight’ remixed by Nicolaas sets its sights on classic upbeat 80s pop. ‘I Think’ is rebuilt by FSQ who crank up the funk levels Funkadelic style, while Casiopepe turns ‘24HR Fling’ on its head and inside out with his no- nonsense approach to nostalgia. ‘Opolopo’ executes his signature slice and dice funk blends, with clips of intricately woven rhythmic patterns and samples. Rounding off the package are three digital exclusive instrumentals of Tensnake, Yuksek, Atjazz and Rodney Hunter’s remixes to make the pleasure last.
