On My Journey of Ascendance by Lex McKee published on 2013-03-10T13:15:01Z An Indian drum loop transported me to the Himalayas and I began my ascent... this is 10 minutes and 30 seconds long! It really is triply, (well, I think it is!), and a welcome escape from the cold here today. The loop became a tune, the tune inspired a poem, the poem joined the tune and, as such, is almost a song. I do hope somebody will love this as much as I do - it has given me the most satisfaction creatively that I've had for a long time. Genre Poetic Comment by Lex McKee This makes me so happy to read this... if I can capture your imagination and empower your memories, then the poetry is working as intended. 2013-10-09T07:54:13Z Comment by Lex McKee On my journey Through the Himalayas I seem as stranger And as friend A stranger to these new experiences A friend to the spirit of the hillsides A friend to the ghosts of the forest A lover of the increasingly rarified atmosphere refrain And onwards and upwards we travel And onwards and upwards we climb All the seasons on one journey A string of pearls, of moments, one at a time Kissing leaves of passing treetops Rhythmic insects set the pace Steam is breathing warm and comforting As the clouds of calm embrace Birds now join our Natural Symphony Sing their part, then fly away Calling others to join one concert To celebrate this breaking day refrain And onwards and upwards we travel And onwards and upwards we climb All the seasons on one journey A string of pearls, of moments, one at a time Altitude and gravity in symbiosis Play their own strange mystic game As thoughts add pauses to the script now And worries seem to fade away Distance brings its own perspective The mountains have a higher plan The crowds have faded, noise grows quiet And I have become another man refrain And onwards and upwards we travel And onwards and upwards we climb All the seasons on one journey A string of pearls, of moments, one at a time 2013-03-10T13:36:07Z
