Lindsey Novakovic Lindsey Novakovic New York LINDSEY NOVAKOVIC (FORMERLY LINDSEY MAE, BORN IN 1990) IS AN AMERICAN SINGER/SONGWRITER BASED OUT OF UPSTATE NEW YORK. Mae’s unique songwriting technique magnifies her love for not only the poetic aspect of her music, but the rhythm and sound. “How I write a song is actually sort of farfetched…I was never a great guitarist and I always found finding the perfect chords and progressions to play to be my biggest challenge. For every song, I start by playing a progression I like. A rhythm I like. After I’m comfortable, I hum or sing a little melody I think may fit vocally. I always, always, record my practices because many of the times I just sing random words to the progressions I’ve written, those words become ideas for the song and some phrases become the song. The way I see it is I feel the music I’m playing. I build an emotion about the chords I play, taking how those chords feel to me, and channeling them into words that thrive around that emotion. It sounds complicated, but I guess it’s different to each person. For me, music is to be felt in the heart, and with every song, that’s exactly where I start.” Having performed at many New York venues such as Caffe Lena, The Living Room, Rockwood Music Hall, and Piano’s, Lindsey desired to travel the East Coast in early 2009. She’s left her footprint in areas like Boston, Delaware, Connecticut, Washington D.C., and Vermont. She hopes to tour again after a couple-year hiatus with new material and a fresh sound, a bit darker than her former bubble-gum pop style. “It is really hard to make people love what you do. You can’t force someone to like anything…but my hopes are that wherever I go, I will find those people to relate with, those people who understand what I’m saying, and appreciate what I’m doing. I play music for myself, to say what I really want to say but I also play for an audience of people just like me. Anyone who experiences and feels the way I do. It’s all for you too, and I hope that wherever I go, I’ll meet more of you.” Lindsey Novakovic’s tracks Great Expectations - Paul Hake (COVER) by Lindsey Novakovic published on 2015-07-16T01:32:05Z The Tired Song (Explicit) by Lindsey Novakovic published on 2015-07-04T18:18:36Z The Last Five Years (Final Warning) by Lindsey Novakovic published on 2015-07-01T20:51:00Z Song For A (Future) Lover by Lindsey Novakovic published on 2015-06-08T02:07:52Z Cable Car by Lindsey Novakovic published on 2015-06-07T17:00:36Z Follow Me Down by Lindsey Novakovic published on 2015-06-07T16:57:15Z Piano Song - Meiko (Ukulele COVER) by Lindsey Novakovic published on 2015-06-07T06:29:50Z The Park - Feist (COVER) by Lindsey Novakovic published on 2015-06-07T06:23:44Z If You Stay - Rosi Golan (COVER) by Lindsey Novakovic published on 2015-05-30T21:57:13Z Hazy - Rosi Golan (COVER) by Lindsey Novakovic published on 2015-05-30T21:56:04Z
