Luis Ciapara Luis Ciapara Valens San Diego Luis Ciapara Biographical sketch Guitarist, singer, music teacher and architect. I am graduated from the National School of Music, National Autonomous University of México (UNAM). I obtained a B.A. degree in music education, and also studied classical guitar and singing (baritone) at the same school. I took courses in choral conducting with Cecilia Velázquez and Professor Jose Antonio Ávila, musical education with Jos Wuytack and composition with Lucía Álvarez. In 2001, I took a master class about chamber choir ensembles with "The King's Singers" at UNAM's Cultural Center. *** While living in Mexico City, I was a member of the National School of Music Choir (Mexico City) for seven years, singing Choral-Symphonic works, operas and choral works a capella or with piano accompaniment. I was guitarist and singer in Kitzia Weiss's band specializing in music for children. As part of my creative work, I have composed an original music for Rudyard Kipling's musical play opus “The cat that walked by herself” and recorded an album with singer and troubadour Francisco Saucedo, and other CD with the world music group “Madre Tierra” (Mother Earth). *** In Tijuana, I have been a faculty member with the Orchestra of Baja California's Conservatory of Music where I was the Children’s choir director, and I have also conducted the Tijuana Opera's children choir and The Iberoamericana University of the Northwest Choir (UIA). In addition, I performed with a musical, theatrical and interactive show for children called “¡Al ánimo!” (Cheer up!). I conducted the Children’s Choir of the Tijuana Youth Symphonic Orchestra. Finally, I conducted the Instrumental and Vocal Ensemble of Technologic Institute of Mexicali, Baja California. *** Currently, I carry out the following projects: 1) I perform popular Mexican songs, like huapangos and sones with guitar accompaniment, from traditional Mexican repertoire, and Hispanic and Latin-American songs too, especially from the wide repertoire of the humorous musical genres. 2) I also play instrumental works on guitar from diverse styles, particularly Latin-American and Mexican music, blues, jazz and acoustic - instrumental prog, with my own arrangements. 3) “Eclecsis” is another project for the interpretation of corals works a Capella including all edges and original works and arrangements.
