Love You Till (UNMIXED IDEA SNIPPET) by Lyna Galliara published on 2019-05-17T20:20:02Z This is a sloppy, metronome-ridden recording of a melody that’d been haunting my head one day when I was feeling especially low. I love the all-consuming nature of the line about loving “till there’s nothing left”: it’s love and life and death and the end of the Universe and loving till the destruction of ourselves and others. I love how that line can mean so many different things. One interpretation could be of a kind, beautiful, gentle, selfless, harmless, even unrequited love and another could be of a much darker and self-destructive one. This love could be for a person or a place or a moment in time. That line is just about eternal love, whether or not that love is good or bad for ourselves or others. Loving till our love destroys or loving till we’re destroyed. I thoughtlessly recorded the vocals for this over five or so minutes, solely to record the melody before I forgot it. I ended up posting this snippet of the melody online, because I found that the more I listened to this sloppy little recording, the more I fell in love with the sound of the messiness of the vocals in it. I think the messiness of the vocals adds something of value in this particular case, that they emphasise the all-consuming nature of this line about love, life and death. The messiness of the vocals convey an honesty and a broken-ness which I think emphasise the seriousness of that line. This was why in the end I felt like this snippet was worth sharing, even in this messy and brief state. Another thing I find to be an interesting feature of this recording is that, whilst the vocals here sound youthful and innocent, the track still allows for the possibility of the ‘loving till there’s nothing left’ that they’re singing about to be about something sinister. Again, I love how this musical idea is open to so many different interpretations. Genre Lyna
