What is the problem with today's music, or what even music is and its essence at all? Music is nothing more than a set of different pitches (frequencies) played based on some rhythm, the essence of which is to sound harmonious, and at the same time, character intervals should be heard. The problem with today's music is equal temperament or balanced tuning (12√2), in which the octave is divided into 12 equal semitones. This has two big flaws, on one hand, all tones are completely characterless, and on the other hand, only perfect unisones, perfect octaves, and their multiples could sound perfectly. A perfect octave is twice or half of a given musical sound frequency, and a perfect unison denotes the same note, the pitch is 0, so in practice it does not count as an interval, so in today's widespread equalized system, only perfect octaves and their multiples could sound as perfect intervals, the other intervals irrational ratio (cannot be expressed as a fraction), therefore they are not in harmony with the nature of music. This is also a problem because disharmonious sounds and interferences are created in this way, which affect the living world not only on a spiritual level, but also on a physical level. These unpleasant differences are clearly audible on precisely tuned instruments. I never like to outline a problem without giving a solution, therefore I would like to mainly discuss this as the following.
If we imagine music in pictures, then the current octave-based equalized system is like a grayscale noisy picture. It contains a total of one semitone, not 12, since the notes do not have a different character, i.e. a different frequency ratio compared to the other notes. The number of different notes is not determined by how many parts a given interval is divided into, but by how the notes relate to each other. Equal temperament can be built up with rational pitches, but in these systems only a tiny fraction of the pitches can be perfect.
The essence of a perfect work of art lies in the imperfect details.
Today's equal temperament has mostly practical reasons, but practicality should never be sacrificed against the laws of nature. The problem is that today's music was not created by musicians, but by mathematicians; however, music is always above mathematics, since one of the essences of art is the deviation from perfection, which can only be described with mathematics with great difficulty or not at all, but at the same time I share the opinion that machines with true artificial intelligence may be able to create works of art and even new forms of art. What gives every art form its soul and essence is what deviates it from perfection. No work of art can be perfect, if it were, it would no longer be a work of art, but some kind of mathematical idealism.
In this video, I provide solutions to these problems: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAtigUfyxIA
