Automated spam bots suddenly go after bank employees in a wide email phishing attempt by Marketplace published on 2018-08-16T16:38:05Z On Wednesday, an automated hacking system typically enlisted by crooks and creeps to send spam emails about bogus offers that apparently got very focused for some hours. The computer security company Cofense says this network of millions of vulnerable computers started sending loads of fake emails to employees of several thousand banks. Those emails looked benign, but contained an attachment which, if opened, could infect bank computers with malware. Aaron Higbee is co-founder and chief technology officer of Cofense. He joined Marketplace Morning Report host David Brancaccio to discuss their findings.
