Olive branch or fig leaf? A revolutionary perspective for the Palestinian Left after Oslo The Oslo accord is still largely seen in Germany as a hopeful peace process. But inside the Palestinian Left and part of the PLO, this idea is contested. Where some people saw the possibility of their own state, others saw capitulation to occupation, apartheid and settlement. The Oslo agreement hasn’t reduced the oppression of the Palestinian people in the slightest. But new developments bring with them new hopes. From the general strike in May 2021 to the new uprising of young Palestinians – both in Palestine and abroad – a new formation is developing where the Palestinian Left can once more play a leading role. What can the Palestinian Left learn from the mistakes of Oslo? What are the new opportunities from which the Palestinian Left can build? And which revolutionary strategy do we need to once more develop an alternative to the old, tired, leadership? Speakers Mohammed Khatib from Masar Badil (Alternative Palestinian Path) and Anne Alexander from the Socialist Workers Party (UK) will delve further into this subject matter. Genre News & Politics
