MYTHOS IV by Max Andrzejewski published on 2023-08-28T20:47:35Z Berliner Ensemble and Ersan Mondtag commissioned four ouvertures for "wagner - der ring des nibelungen (a piece like fresh chopped eschenwood)" recomposed by Thomas Köck - with no audible Wagner involved. Premiere on june 3rd 2021. I wrote music for a stellar 12 piece ensemble of classical musicians and improvisers. The compositions decontextualize tiny bits of the original Wagner ouvertures. A motive, a tempo, a piece of noise from an original recording... sometimes in the process I just played drums to the original ouvertures and used these drum recordings as a starting point for writing. The pieces will be released as an album on backlash music on march 4th.
