The following in an excerpt from www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=mecrab
1. Mecrab
An offensive, pungent, culinary based odor first identified by Eric Cartman in South Park episode 317 (aka "The Brown Noise") that has the power to affect the scent of anything and everything that may linger within its presence for an extended amount of time. Combine the smells of garlic breath, rotten fish, sour milk and socks worn for 3 days and you have Mecrab. Mecrab can occur globally, but tends to be more common among Asiatic cultures.
However I later found this to be a spelling mistake its actually 'Meekrob' but too late to change……so now you know.
Other wise know as Tom Voogd Im a Thirty Three year old Producer/DJ living and working in Cornwall for the last 6 years or so I've been playing at some of Kerno's finest underground venues Jericho, Crasken, Frenzy, Kazbar, Studiobar and many more offering a welcome break from the normality of dance genres with a carnival of eclectic mashups and genre spanning sets that onslaught the senses.
Since I can remember I've always had quite eclectic tastes when its come to music making it a bit tricky when in comes to defining the styles and genres I create, mix and listen to but lets give it ago in some order of preference; Folk- Balkan, Gypsy, Klezmer, Serbian, Hungarian; Swing- Electro1930's -50's, Big Band, Film Soundtrack/Score, IDM, Glitch Hop, Trip Hop, Hip Hop, Dub, Roots, Ska, Latina, Salsa, Funk, Tropica, Cumbia, Moombahton, Chillout, Jazz, Drum and Bass, Dub Step, Breakbeat and finally 2 Step!
Most of my own creations vary in style much like my tastes in music although on the whole I work on combining the older more ethnic sounds and influences e.g. a 1300's harpsichord, with that of more modern styles and sounds e.g 2 Step or Glitch Hop. The latest of these is examples is from my Cinedramatical Down Step EP combining Cinematic scores/soundtrack from my favorite films with Downtempo 2 Step beats and bass.
I love traditional music from all walks of life and virtually any culture and whilst I appreciate keeping those styles and techniques strictly traditional, untainted if you like by modern formats I feel strongly that music is ever evolving and the only way to keep the next generation interested is to merge,
adopt and adapt the old with the new, the young and the old.
I believe this is the future of music, this is not to say my music is the answer……it merrily offers a few experiments and ideas to feed your ear drums appetite on there travels.
Enjoy;)
