National Service National Service London NATIONAL SERVICE are three friends who began making music at school. Singer Fintan Campbell met guitarist Iain Kelly whilst studying Goldsmiths University in 2009. The band germinated in 2017 with the addition of longtime collaborator, drummer Matthew Alston. The band signed to legendary indie label Fierce Panda records in 2017 and their first single, 'A Little More Time', was released to critical acclaim (Nothing But Hope & Passion https://nbhap.com/blog/daily-tune-national-service-a-little-more-time), Bittersweet Symphonies https://bittersweetsymphonies.co.uk/2017/01/25/song-of-the-week-national-service-a-little-more-time/). Follow-up single, 'Timid Kisses', was BBC6 Track Of The Week and was featured as ‘Steve Lamacq’s National Anthem’. The song received generous airplay on KERRANG! Radio and Absolute Radio. Shortly after, the band were showcased at Brighton’s Great Escape festival and shortlisted for Brecon Beacon’s Greenman Festival. Arriving the following year, the gently upset debut EP 'Foreign Love, quickly followed by sophomore 'Meltwater', featured a selection of music racked with yearning and restrained torment. Eloquently confessional, the latter release marked a shift in direction - “It’s lush, angry, more urgent, deeper instrumentation, more ambitious production and a more collaborative, expansive composition.” The EP enjoyed an in-depth interview feature from Dan Alani's Reprezent Radio (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-L2o6UDoME). NATIONAL SERVICE continue to tour the UK, sharing stages with the likes of Man Of Moon, The Boy With The Lion Head, Oh Sister, To Kill a King, Broken Records etc. New single 'Milktooth' available now.
