Morning Show With Mary Jacobsen 2021-10-14 Fannie Lou Hamer Biographer by NCM Hub published on 2021-10-14T14:49:35Z Host Mary Jacobsen interviews historian Kate Clifford Larson, who also wrote a best-selling biography of Harriet Tubman, about “Walk with Me,” her new biography of Civil Rights pioneer Fannie Lou Hamer. Larson discusses Hamer’s indomitable spirit of revolutionary change, her extraordinary ability to transcend the poverty and injustice of her early life in brutally racist Jim Crow Mississippi, and her determination to attain and solidify for Blacks the most fundamental of rights in America, the right to cast a ballot. Larson has described Hamer as using every resource she had to advance the causes of voting and women’s rights, including “her anger, her courage, her faith in the Bible, and her conviction that hearts could be won over and injustice overcome.” These qualities enabled her to help lead "the fight for freedom and equality in America at its critical moment.” Link to video version: https://youtu.be/nkxNF8Ul35g GENERAL DISCLAIMER: All opinions expressed by the Program Participants are solely their current opinions and do not reflect the opinions of NCM Hub, PortMedia, and WJOP 96.3 FM Genre Learning
