Negatory Negatory Dandenong What is your genre, what is your style, what is your image? Let’s face it, with every social demographic comes some form of ‘unspoken rules’ that introduce there own boundaries and limitations. This ultimately stales the creative element and its associated ‘scene’. And to be completely blunt… when it comes to ‘heavy’ music, they are some of the worst offenders. Now enter Negatory. A four piece band, that create music on the basis of a quick wit, a mischievous grin and a heavy grooving good time with a healthy larrikin swagger that doesn’t follow rules, but reinvents them. The story behind Negatory’s formation is a lengthy one; suffice to say that it started as a small flame in the hearts of Ben Marsh (guitar) and Daniel Spizzirri (vocals). Focusing less on how fast, technical and brutal potential members could play. The pair wanted to build a fundamental basis of ‘is this dude on the same wavelength as us?’ Eighteen months (and a lot of auditions) later, they came in the form of Christian Diaz (drums) and Kate Marsh (bass). So by late 2010, the manifestation of Negatory was complete. Since that initial breath of life, the quartet continues to forge their bond and produce heavy music that is equal parts technical and simple, groovy then aggressive, fast but sometimes slow. This serves only to compliment their unconventional approach, to what a heavy metal band is ‘supposed to be like’. Ready or not, here comes Negatory.
