Drummer, percussionist, composer, producer and drum teacher based in Assisi, Massimo Discepoli over the years has participated in musical projects of all kinds, with which he recorded albums and performed live extensively: among them the Vibrham trio (with its fusion of jazz, funk and drum 'n' bass) the experimental duo Nunun, the trio LED (which creates improvised soundtracks for silent classics movies) as well as many other formations ranging from jazz to rock and electronic.
In addition to drums, he also studied piano, bass and guitar, also approaching electronics; in the late 2000s he started to make his own music, which initially materialized with the creation of the Nheap project. Under this pseudonym he composes and plays a particular mixture of ambient/easy listening, jazz, post-rock and electronica. To date there are five albums made with this project, all received positively by the public and critics; many tracks are licensed to various companies for short films, documentaries and commercials. (Samsung, MTV, CNN, ESA, Bill Clinton Foundation, Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria, Black Box, Picture Shack, Red Bull Media House, Gizmodo and many others). At the same time, he also created the Nheap XP project, especially aimed at club, techno and house music.
In 2014 he released the first album under his real name, titled "Parallax", more experimental than the other projects; other albums will follow, all of which receive positive critical acclaim.
In 2009 he founded the creative music label Acustronica, through which he distributes and promotes, in addition to his own works, those of artists from all over the world; another label is then created, DOF, specializing in electro-acoustic and experimental music.
He also collaborates on works released for other record labels, including Setola di Maiale and Floating Forest, and sees his music included in many compilations, including "Unexplained Sounds Group - the first annual report", with the presence of artists such as Steve Reich and Morton Subotnick.
In 2016 he released the album "An Eclipse Of Images", with the American double bass player Daniel Barbiero (Gino Robair, Andrea Centazzo, Greg Osby).
Discepoli's works get reviews, interviews and radio airplay on important magazines, sites and radio broadcasts, including All About Jazz, Musica Jazz, Drum Club, 15 Questions, Battiti, Blow Up, The Sound Projector, Drum Set Mag, Avant Music News and many more.
