Nicholas Buc Nicholas Buc New York Nicholas Buc is an Australian composer, conductor and arranger based in New York. He studied Composition at the University of Melbourne, where he received the inaugural Fellowship of Australian Composers Award. Some of his works have been premiered by the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir, The Australian Voices, the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra Virtuosi, the Benaud Trio and Concordis Chamber Choir. He has also written for film and television, with some of his work being screened at festivals and theaters around Australia, Asia and the US. In 2007 he was nominated for "Best Original Song Composed for the Screen" in the APRA-AGSC Screen Music Awards. Nicholas has conducted all of the major Australian symphony orchestras, as well as the Hong Kong Philharmonic, Evergreen Symphony (Taiwan) and Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestras. Recent engagements include Disney’s Pixar in Concert, Bernard Herrmann’s Psycho with Orchestra and Michael Giacchino’s Star Trek Live in Concert. He also conducted for Ben Folds on his recent Australian tour and appeared with former Dresden Dolls singer Amanda Palmer at MONA FOMA, Hobart.
