Omii Doe Florida “That’s you?!” Is a question Omar is very familiar with. Born in Queens, NY, he grew up in a constant need to prove himself. Due to domestic violence Omar’s life was never stable, he grew up watching his mom get brutally beaten on a daily basis. Being raised by a single mom and older brother he endured homelessness, desperation and watching his mother make rock bottom choices to care for her children. In the years to come, he learned how unforgiving the streets are and how family is a word not bound by blood. His older brother involved with gangs and his mother trapped in her own PTSD, it seemed Omar saw no hope no matter which path he took. In the midst of this reality, there were 2 things he held onto. Gaming and music. Video games and Rap was his means of escape. Growing up he looked up to Big Pun, Busta Rhymes and Eminem. He always had a fascination in lyrics and how the delivery can change the impact of a punchline. After school he would spend countless hours writing verses and crafting his own identity. As he matured he played games and wrote rhymes with his uncle and brother. He later joined a local church youth group where he rapped on stage for ministry. He gained confidence by performing on stage at local events yet there was still a constant question he faced... “thats you?” Many of his peers who heard him rap would explain that he doesn’t look like a rapper. This made him second guess himself and whether he could be accepted by true fans of Hip Hop. Even with this internal struggle he pressed on and continued writing. Life at home was still the same. His mother attempted suicide a few times and his brother became distant. It was later where Omar would find himself in Buffalo,NY. Here is where he met Vincent Bowers of Work Art Entertainment. Through a mutual friend they were in the same room and shared their passion for music. Learning they have similar goals in music, Omar partnered with WAE (Work Art Entertainment) where he released his first official EP “Reset” in 2015 with his video game single “Disorder.” Taking on the stage name “Omii Doe” he collaborated with Saint Soprano, Delegacy and other local artists in the Buffalo hip hop scene. He has also performed in community events like “4 Quarters,” led by Almax who opened doors for many up and coming artists in the area. Later on he would get married and in 2018 he dropped his first mixtape “Random” on SoundCloud which includes a song written for his wife called “I Keep.” Today they are still happily married and now with a son, his career in music hasn’t concluded. He had his share of upsets when trying to work with others, some with bad intentions which cost him money. Still under the WAE umbrella, Omii Doe worked on a song called “No Collaborations” which will address some of the bad experiences he went through when working with certain artists and promoters. Throwing people off has been a constant occurrence, he’s ready to do it again. You can find Omii Doe’s music on all streaming platforms and SoundCloud.
