This album is ‘My Island Home’ which is the sixth part of the project of Australian music and another tribute album to Australian Bands and Artists. The 1st volume is called ‘Sounds of Then...This is Australia’, the 2nd volume is ‘True Blue’, the 3rd volume is called ‘Howzat’, the 4th volume is called ‘Down Under’, and the 5th volume is called ‘G’Day G’Day’.
There were great Australian Bands and Artists whose music I loved right from my early teens…So there are songs across the generations from 1966 to 2022 which covers many bands and artists, so something for everyone...
Songs from the 60’s include ‘Little Boy Sad’ which is a song written by Wayne Walker and performed by Australian Band M.P.D Limited in 1966. ‘Georgy Girl’ is a song by the Australian pop/folk music group ‘The Seekers’.
Songs from the 70’s include ‘Have You Never Been Mellow’ is a song recorded by Australian singer Olivia Newton-John for her 1975 fifth studio album of the same name. ‘Everyday of My Life’ is a song by Australian band ‘Little River Band’, released in April 1976.
‘Beg, Steal or Borrow’ is a song by Australian group ‘The New Seekers’ and was performed in 1972. The song was originally written by Tony Cole. ‘I've Got the Music in Me’ is a pop song by The Kiki Dee Band, released in 1974. It was written in 1973 by Bias Boshell. Marcia Hines also released a cover version in 1976.
Songs from the 80’s include the tittle track ‘My Island Home’, a rock song written by Neil Murray and George Burarrwanga. It was originally performed by the ‘Warumpi Band’ and was recorded in 1986. ‘Would I Lie to You’ is a song written and performed by the Australian group ‘The Eurythmics’ and was released on 9 April 1985 as the lead single from the band's fourth studio album ‘Be Yourself Tonight’ (1985).
‘She Has To Be Loved’ is a song by New Zealand singer-songwriter ‘Jenny Morris’. It was released in August 1989 as the second single from her second studio album ‘Shiver’ (1989). ‘The Night Owls’ is a song by Australian rock band ‘Little River Band’. It was released in September 1981 as the lead single from their sixth studio album ‘Time Exposure’.
‘What You Need’ is a song recorded by the Australian band ‘INXS’. It is the lead track from their 1985 album ‘Listen Like Thieves’. ‘Star Hotel’ is a song by Australian band ‘Cold Chisel’ and was released in 1980 from their Album ‘East’. ‘Power and the Passion’ is the second single from ‘Midnight Oil's’ 1982 album 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
Songs From the 90’s includes ‘I’ll Make You Happy’ which is a song by Australian rock band Divinyls and was released on 21 October 1997 from their Album ‘Love In Motion’. ‘Now I Can Dance’ is a song written by ‘Tina Arena’ and ‘David Tyson’. It was the third single taken from Arena's third studio album ‘In Deep’ (1997).
‘Ooh Aah... Just a Little Bit’ is the debut solo single of Australian singer Gina G. The song was released on 25 March 1996 as the first single from her debut album, ‘Fresh’ (1997). ‘Happy Birthday Helen’ is a song written by Greg Arnold and recorded by Australian folk-rock band ‘Things of Stone and Wood’. The song was released in November 1992 as the second single from the band's debut studio album ‘The Yearning’.
‘Sorrento Moon’ is a song written by Australian singer ‘Tina Arena’, ‘David Tyson’, and ‘Christopher Ward’ for Arena's second album ‘Don't Ask’ (1994).
Songs from 2000 onwards include ‘Hurtless’ which is a song by Australian singer and songwriter Dean Lewis. The song was released on 1 April 2022 as the second single from Lewis' forthcoming second studio album ‘The Hardest Love’. ‘Never Give Up’ is a song recorded by Sia, from the soundtrack of the Garth Davis-directed film, Lion (2016).
