X-Y, for orchestra by Pablo Carrascosa Llopis published on 2022-03-21T12:12:18Z “X-Y” is in, a way, a little tribute to the Viennese composer Anton Webern, as it is largely formed of short quotes of some of his works (Op.5, Op.6 and Op.30 specifically) played in loop. To this loops, which form the harmonic framework of the piece, two cyclic layers have been superimposed, influenced respectively by Indian carnatic music and extreme metal bands like Meshuggah. In this mix of layers, and under the idea of quotation, the autor has incorporate one of his own, extracted from his most recent work: “L5DD”. The result is, thus, a music that speaks about music and, so, abstract — although the sonorous landscape has much of an evocative one—, where the idea of drone is strongly present.
