A sample of Luz María Sánchez's sound piece “V.[u]nf_4” by PBSNewsHour published on 2020-02-26T21:37:21Z Luz María Sánchez's “V.[u]nf_4”, is the latest in a series of sound pieces by the sound and visual artist that address the “unnecessary force” and everyday violence that affect many Mexicans. Sánchez and her assistants Josué Martínez Alcántara and Fernando Gonzalez Buenrostro shadowed the civilian group Las Rastreadoras de El Fuerte, or The El Fuerte Trackers, as they searched the desert for “clandestine graves” of missing loved ones. In this stereo excerpt of the sound installation, you can hear the audible crunch of the group's footsteps and the metallic clangs of shovels hitting the dirt. Audio provided by Luz María Sánchez.
