loyca by Pepi Amodeo published on 2018-10-15T17:24:08Z loyca is a series of acousmatic pieces based on field recordings of the vocalizations of long-tale meadowlark (Sturnella loyca), a native bird in grasslands from southern Argentinian Pampas. The form of this piece responds to the structure of its vocalization: each section is built using a different part of the species typical birdsong. Throughout the piece, direct recordings dialogue with sound designs drawing a continuum between the original sonic identity of the bird and abstract elements as a mean of reinterpretation in a new significance environment. This piece is presented as an ever-changing series, in agreement to the subjectivity in perception and representation of the sounds over time. loyca es una piezas acusmática construida a partir de registros de campo de las vocalizaciones de la loica común (Sturnella loyca), un ave nativa de los pastizales de la región pampeana Argentina.
