Madre de la Sierra by Poranguí published on 2022-08-13T10:11:01Z “Madre de la Sierra”, the first single from the forthcoming album Beauty Way by Poranguí, is an invitation to remember the interconnectedness of humankind with Mother Earth. Every part of our body can be found in every part of hers. When we desecrate the earth, we desecrate ourselves. When we desecrate ourselves and each other, we desecrate the earth. “Anugwe (Angüe) Duna” (from the Iku language of the Wintukwa people) is a shared principle amongst the 4 indigenous peoples who inhabit La Sierra - the Wintukwa, Kaggaba, Sankha, and Kankuamo. It means “positive spiritual thought'' or “good spirit”, and it is interpreted as the spirit of caring, complementing and reciprocating all that sustains us alive and all the beings we co-exist with in the Universe. The chorus, “caminando en Anugwe Duna” is a call to humanity to walk in this “Good Spirit”: to walk, talk, think and act in Anugwe Duna, collaborating with all of life.
