Prize Fighters Seattle, WA With the release of the Haunting Hearts album, Prize Fighters bring a new feel to a classic genre. Lush with addicting guitar progressions, an honest lyrical approach, and folk rock undertones, the record boasts the aesthetic of acoustic pop anthems. Though the songs are diverse from one another, there is a glue that holds them all together. Most importantly, the LP never loses sight of the emotional platform great songs are built from. The first single and title track, “Haunting Hearts” is an instant indie folk classic. Complete with melodic vocal harmonies, inventive percussion, and a heartfelt vocal style, the song seems to breathe and build as it plays on. “The title track is the reflection of not only the things we have experienced together, but also a culmination of the album's overall theme of love, loss, overcoming struggles, and the strength that is gained through these experiences.” explains song co-writer Brianna Lasiter of the bands single. Although the single does speak volumes for the album, to get a real understanding of where Prize Fighters are coming from, it should be heard in its entirety. “Haunting Hearts is also a statement to everyone that we will forever have a strong bond and friendship that will overcome any and all experiences that come our way. The songs have powerful lyrics, time changes, progression, and are rhythmically driven.” says Lasiter of their songwriting approach for the release. Having been best friends since the age of only 13, David Bareno and Brianna Lasiter had no problem clicking with each other musically as well. Both heavily influenced by their love for music, the duo began writing and performing together in early 2014 and haven’t stopped since. Bareno had been performing open mics and eventually encouraged Lasiter to pick up the cajon (hand drum) and perform with him. They performed covers together until they realized they were onto something good and decided to take things more seriously. It was then that they began writing the Haunting Hearts record together. The rest is history. The Haunting Hearts album is now available for streaming and downloads on most major digital outlets and the duo already have gigs lined up for the coming months in support of their release.
