Ezekiel Mcgougan
US
He is Ezekiel Antonio Mcgougan (Zeke), and this is the year of the Prophecy.
Born and raised in North Carolina until he was nine years old. In 1994 he transferred from Section 8 Housing to the rural area of Medical Lake Washington. And in 1995 he attended a private school in Edwall, Washington. Music at this time proved to be his escape with artists influencing his life like. Ice Cube, Bone Thugs & Harmony, Crucial Conflict, Twista, DMX, Juvenile, Lil Wayne, Hotboys, Three six Mafia, Lil Keke, and Big Hawk. Zeke taught martial arts all through his middle school and high school days. Martial arts proved to be the foundation for his many attributes and upbringing, teaching him discipline, morals, ethics, and the meaning of determination and motivation. He was taught and trained in martial arts by his parents Rick and Stephany Montgomery.
Zeke was raised around music and musicians his whole life. And in 1998 when he moved to Georgia this would be the foundation of his very own music career, shaping him into the man in music he is today. Pastor Troy was and still is one of the most influential rappers and after hearing “Vice-Versa”, he never listened to music the same way again. This inspired him to start writing poetry, although he didn’t prove to be as talented as some of his counterparts in the neighborhood. Wanting to be the best he migrated to writing songs and rap and continued listening to motivating artists like Playa Fly, Lil John, Dj Screw, Slim Thug, T.I, T. Rock, and basically engulfed himself in southern hip-hop, passionate, soulful, meaningful music that didn’t lean towards the main stream artists at the time.
In 2003 Zeke made his way back to Washington State where he went into the work force but felt neither sense of fulfillment from working retail nor taking care of the elderly in the healthcare industry. Zeke felt like he was neglecting the one thing that he was passionate about and holding off on his dreams so he began fully pursuing music with his big brother Ricky Boykin with his first low budget, self-made mix tape called, “Computer Crunk” in 2005. Made with a radio shack mic, fruity loops, sound click beats, acid pro, and a computer. He got a little buzz and response selling the mix tapes out of his trunk wherever there was crowds of people like gas stations, Wall*Mart. During this time in his life he met his ex-wife and the mother of his children Nevaeh and Zekhiah Mcgougan. He put his music on hold to take the role of father to his children against his own father’s better judgment and went back to working full time. In 2006 he began work for Eggar’s meats as a butcher where he met his best friend, roommate, co-worker and big brother, Aaron Chissus. He started to train and eventually made music out of what they liked to call, “The Bat Cave”, (Bachelor Pad). During this time his now ex-wife Kayla Gonzalez and him were going through many highs and lows, breakups and makeups, and he moved out of their home.
Through many trials and tribulations, a few nonviolent DV charges, and many stressful days the mother of his children acted on her promises to take his kids and up and moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. He went back into the studio with his cousin Trayvonne Garry and started working with Perfechter Productions and began doing some local shows in the Inland Northwest. Shortly after re pursuing his career Ezekiel was diagnosed with B-Cell Lymphoma while locked up. After being released he began chemo treatments and a year later was in remission that was in 2010. It is now 2012, The Year of The Prophecy and he is back. Hitting it hard in the studio, again working with Perfechter Productions.
