Red Rack'em Live At Out To Lunch, Nottingham 10_08_08 by Red Rack'em published on 2014-08-13T19:34:10Z I regularly attended the Nottingham Out To Lunch Jazzdance sessions for at least 8 years and ended up getting to know quite a lot of the people that turn up on the second Sunday of every month. I enjoyed the privacy of these Sunday sessions – you coud go and chat to the dancers and get involved or hide behind a pillar and listen to the hard bop. Perry Louis and JazzCotech Dancers are a class act and the music is always ace. One day in early 2008, the organiser/resident DJ Killer Jim asked me if I wanted to play at the August session. It’s a massive honour to play there so it was great to be asked. I really enjoyed blasting out the tunes to such a responsive and interpretive dancers – watching the twists, turns and ultra fancy footwork really did add an extra dimension to playing the tunes. The intimate setting somehow made it feel bigger than a ‘big’ gig and I found it one of my most rewarding and enjoyable DJ experiences so far. Here’s what I played.
