Reliance Foundation, founded in 2010, is the philanthropic foundation of Reliance Industries Limited and one of the largest private foundations in India. Its objective is to promote sustainable growth in India.
Since 2013, One of the programme in Reliance Foundation “Information Services” is disseminating information on weather based livelihood (agriculture, livestock, inland / marine fisheries), Government / Bank schemes, subsidies, Insurance, disaster management, health, social, education, employment and civic services advisories and providing necessary linkages to rural communities with the technical support of Government Departments, Universities, Research Institutions, Hospitals, Banks using different communication platforms such as mobile platforms, local cable TVs, print, electronic media, multi-location audio / video conferences.
The programme is also providing ground services such as medical camps, livestock camps, plant diagnostic camps, soil testing camps, demonstrations and trainings.
Presently RFIS programme is in partnership with approximately 500 knowledge providers (departments / organizations / institutions not individuals) for providing right information to right individuals from right sources. More than 30, 00,000 individuals have been receiving personalized advisories onto their mobiles in different thematic areas. More than 25,000 villages are receiving advisories or are participating in interactions on day to day basis with various programmes or broadcast modes (local cable TV, Radio and Print Media). The entire eco-system is supported by cloud telephony based Toll Free Help Line Number (1800-419-8800) in the form of providing necessary clarifications from knowledge providers to knowledge seekers.
