He arrived on the scene in 1974 with a new roots vocal style and rasta lyrics, which was embraced by the top ranking sound system operator and dub pioneer, King Tubby. Deejay originator U-Roy championed Linval’s records as selector on Tubby’s Sound System in Kingston. His break through hits in the 1970s, Don’t You Cut Off Your Dreadlocks & I Love Marijuana remain classics in the roots reggae scene. At the legendary Channel One studio he was at the forefront of dancehall’s creation producing the Roots Radics band and bringing singers like Barrington Levy, Freddie Mcgregor, Eek A Mouse & Yellowman into the spotlight.
