Where are You Now, Humphrey the Whale by rockyleplin published on 2012-04-10T03:03:55Z Written and recorded in 1991, the year that Humphrey the humpback returned to SF Bay, and got stuck on the the mudflats by Candlestick Park. He was helped back into the bay at high tide. Genre pop rock Comment by rockyleplin Rick Jacob was the next door neighbor, in Carmichael, CA, of composer's best friend and guitarist Tim Johnson. Rick did the vocals in two takes. After the first take, the composer complained to Rick that he had sung something ungrammatical (I don't remember what it was). Rick got mad and was determined he wouldn't irritate me again. This was his "to hell with you!" take. He nailed it. Unfortunately I couldn't get any airplay for this song because Humphrey was no longer an item. It took five trips to the studio we used, in Rocklin, CA (out past Sacramento) to get this recording, and by the time it was finished, Humphrey was long gone. 2012-04-10T03:10:32Z
