THE WEST COAST
RVCKVS (pronounced ruckus) is the innovative design and creation of frequency bender and beat-maker, Pete Oriarte. Hailing from the mighty Bay Area, California, RVCKVS is catching the world’s ear with an untamed sound that dances between music boundaries and refuses to bow down to the rigid confines of any genre. His nuanced style that fuses the underground roots of West Coast hip-hop with cutting-edge bass music has not gone unnoticed. RVCKVS has garnered support from Insomniac and Circus Records hailed artist, Conrank, Wakaan’s Sully, leading pioneers, SuperAve, Thelem, and Kowta, and he has shared the stage with famed bass music renegade, Stylust. RVCKVS has taken over the turntables at the Bass For The Kids event in Los Angeles, has opened for Stylust at the Midway in San Francisco, and was the first premiere performer on the SOULDRENDR live stream. His dynamic guest mix of hard-hitting bass was also featured on the “OH THAT’S GOOD RADIO,” a radio station and rising platform based in Los Angeles.
So where did it all begin for this genre-melting bass chemist? Oriarte had been producing music for over five years, experimenting with hip-hop and R&B beats before switching to electronic music. He refined his production skills at the world-renowned Los Angeles-based school for production, Icon Collective, and cultivated his own sound – and message – to the world. “I created RVCKVS to connect my listeners with the frequencies and vibrations of a whole new wave of electronic music,” Oriarte comments of his project’s passion and direction. “Over the years I’ve fine-tuned my ear to interpret how producers speak through their music. RVCKVS follows that same format and has something to say behind each track.”
It's no wonder that this frontrunner’s spotlight continues to swell. RVCKVS tracks are not only hard enough to light up the dance floors, but each song draws listeners onto an epic and vibrant journey paved by mutated synths, free-form bass music, and soundscape storytelling.
After a year of tipping hats from bass music heavyweights and building a fan-base across the globe, RVCKVS ended the year with his latest release, 1SEVEN2, which was featured on The Untz, and is gearing up with an arsenal of releases for the coming year of 2022, including an E.P. and collaborations with Kowta.
