Let's Learn Bhagavad Gita : Chapter 18 - Moksha Sannyasa Yoga - Shlokas 61, 62 & 63 by Sanathana Vani published on 2022-12-31T17:17:21Z Chapter 18 – śloka 61: ईश्वरः सर्वभूतानां हृद्देशेऽर्जुन तिष्ठति । भ्रामयन्सर्वभूतानि यन्त्रारूढानि मायया ॥ īśvaraḥ sarvabhūtānāṁ hṛddeśe'rjuna tiṣṭhati । bhrāmayansarvabhūtāni yantrārūḍhāni māyayā ॥ Word by Word Meaning: īśvaraḥ – the Lord; sarva – all; bhūtānām – of beings; hṛt-deśe – in the hearts; arjuna – O Arjuna; tiṣṭhati – dwells; bhrāmayan – causing to wander, or whirled; sarva-bhūtāni – all beings; yantra – machine; ārūḍhāni – mounted on; māyayā – by māyā or illusion; Chapter 18 – śloka 62: तमेव शरणं गच्छ सर्वभावेन भारत । तत्प्रसादात्परां शान्तिं स्थानं प्राप्स्यसि शाश्वतम् ॥ tameva śaraṇaṁ gaccha sarvabhāvena bhārata । tatprasādātparāṁ śāntiṁ sthānaṁ prāpsyasi śāśvatam ॥ Word by Word Meaning: tam – Him; eva – alone; śaraṇaṁ gaccha – surrender to; sarva-bhāvena – with all your heart or being; bhārata – O Arjuna, the son of Bharata; tat-prasādāt – by His grace; parām – supreme; śāntim – peace; sthānam – the abode; prāpsyasi – you shall attain; śāśvatam – eternal; Chapter 18 – śloka 63: इति ते ज्ञानमाख्यातं गुह्याद्गुह्यतरं मया । विमृश्यैतदशेषेण यथेच्छसि तथा कुरु ॥ iti te jñānamākhyātaṁ guhyādguhyataraṁ mayā । vimṛśyaitadaśeṣeṇa yathecchasi tathā kuru ॥ Word by Word Meaning: iti – thus; te – to you; jñānam – knowledge; ākhyātam – has been explained or revealed; guhyāt – than all that is secret or profound; guhya-taram – more secret or profound; mayā – by Me; vimṛśya – reflecting over; etat – this; aśeṣeṇa – fully or entirely; yathā – as; icchasi – you like or wish; tathā – that; kuru – do; Explanation (śloka 61, 62 & 63): The Supreme Lord resides in the hearts of all living beings and exercises permanent control over the actions of the embodied soul. To the one who surrenders completely to Him, God bestows the grace with which the seeker can experience ultimate bliss, attain the Divine and be permanently released from bondage to the material world. Meaning (śloka 61): The Lord dwells in the hearts of all beings, O Arjuna, [who are] whirled by māyā, [as if] mounted on a machine. Meaning (śloka 62): Surrender to Him alone with all your heart, O son of Bharata (Arjuna). By His grace, you shall attain supreme peace, [which is] the eternal abode.
