I first tried slapping/popping the bass line myself, but couldn't get it spot on as far as timing (@144 BPM) - had to resort to midi keys! The chord progression underlying the main melody came first to me, then the ostinato pattern, and the 12/8 groove sort of fell into place over a few weeks. I mostly think of the bass as a percussion instrument, as I began my musical life as a drummer!. Many thanks for listening! 2014-02-18T00:10:43Z Comment by Jack Jeffery this is a very complex piece and a remarkable effort whose jazz innovations yields something new upon repeated listens 2014-02-17T10:37:23Z Comment by Jack Jeffery interesting ending 2014-02-17T09:10:17Z Comment by Jack Jeffery nice trumpet sound 2014-02-17T09:09:04Z Comment by Jack Jeffery interesting jam - very complicated 2014-02-17T09:08:13Z Comment by Jack Jeffery nice low piano sound 2014-02-17T09:07:19Z Comment by London-DC Sounds amazing, too free for me but very much enjoyable! 2014-02-16T18:49:33Z
