Hermetic Journals: Egisto Macchi Special (January 2023) by Snows ov Gethen published on 2023-01-18T19:25:00Z Collaging Egisto Macchi this month. This is my long planned audio-primer and I’d even say a love letter to the greatest Italian library music composer that ever lived. 1+ hour of succulent library grooves, piquant string sections, singing woodwinds, mysterious electroacoustica and violent onslaughts of percussion. No shortage of drama! What a legend! A close associate of Morricone, member of high-profile improv band Gruppo di Improvvisazione di Nuova Consonanza, Italy’s most tireless champion of experimental concert music and overall maestro of sound alchemy. As usual I was more interested in capturing the mood of the composer’s catalogue rather than faithfully playing out a few of my favourite tracks. So, a lot of bits, pieces, juxtapositions and layers. A list of fragments used in their very approximate sequence can be found on my website: https://snowsovgethen.com/journal/snows-ov-gethen-hermetic-journals-egisto-macchi-special-january-2023 Genre Library Music
