Red-bellied Woodpecker Calls 06 by Andy Martin, Field Recordist published on 2024-02-02T22:02:59Z Red-bellied Woodpeckers are common woodpeckers in the forests of Eastern North America. Hard to follow and rarely settled, these birds are constantly on the move from tree to tree, branch to branch, often seen spiraling up the trunk of a single tree looking for a place to drill for insects. Highly vocal and rarely quiet year-round, Red-bellied Woodpeckers are most vocal during nesting season. Their most frequent vocalization is the "kwirr" or "churr" contact call, which can be used to attract or contact a mate or serve as a recognition call between pairs. Also in this recording is the "cha group" most often used in a state of excitement or agitation. Isolated from Double Mid-Side original, with both clean-processed version and lightly treated source, enabling the end user to use both.
