TBF 254 Make Luther Black Again by The Blacksmith's Furnace published on 2021-04-18T20:43:16Z First things First. We're so sorry we left you without an episode last week, things just couldn't align but we'll be sure to make sure it doesn't happen again. Now... welcome all to another episode of the Blacksmith's Furnace. In trying to put things right, it's a full furnace today and we spray from the hip for Sorry not Sorry with everyone throwing a grenade of a question on to the Hot seat Peter starts the onslaught with a classic apologetics style question pondering where Cain got his wife from. Rob follows suit wondering why John was the only don who felt it important to point out he was the disciple that Christ loved. Mo finished off asking what we think the mission of the Church is from God's point of view and in carrying out that mission how do we interact with those who've been hurt by different expressions of that mission. We then go on to talk about the recent comments from BBC's diversity chief regarding Idris Elba's portrayal of Luther which insinuated that because the character didn't fit enough stereotypes it wasn't authentically black. We discuss whether black media will ever work if such stereotypes aren't continually presented. For our Hookups Peter suggested a new show called The Chosen which is likely one of the best portrayals of the Gospels ever done! Have a watch here [https://watch.angelstudios.com/thechosen](https://watch.angelstudios.com/thechosen) Mo suggested checking out an old school song from Israel Houghton and the New breed called Here I am to worship if you endured Rob's mercifully short but despicable rendition of the song and would like to cleanse your aural pallette have a listen here [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULwKXfTQXE4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULwKXfTQXE4) And Rob suggested watching an old school movie called Memento check out the trailer here [https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0209144/](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0209144/) **We hope you enjoy the episode and if you do please let us know in the comments and let your friends know by sharing, and if you don't, please let us know in the comments and let your friends know by sharing.
