DARKWORLD AFTERMATH SEQUENCE 5: THE DARKNESS RETURNS narration by Chris Elliot by THE DARKWORLD PROJECT 3 published on 2022-11-26T13:22:48Z The Darkness Returns (Witness) narration by Chris Elliot Ash, ash and more ash. The city had drifts of it like snow on the wind, accept it was grey, somewhat like my mood. I looked at the cracked mirror. I WAS tired again. The war had taken its toll. My face was always covered in ash, after I had been out scrounging for supplies. All the shops had been looted long ago but sometimes I would be in luck and find a basement which was untouched. I brought back as much as I could carry with my incredible new motor bike. My face looked different, more hardened less sure. The ash was thick covering my features, I couldn’t clean it I TURNED THE TAP but I forgot for a second that there was no water There was a water source nearby I DISCOVERED a few days ago before the Spawn moved through. It was a slow moving canal or river (sort of clean but at least it was water; it was better than nothing). Some parts of the water were bitter but one day last week I found a natural spring and the water flowed cool and clear. The only problem was it was summer so it didn’t flow all the time. The sun never shone so it was difficult to know what month it was accept it was slightly warmer. Hopefully rain would come soon and I would have enough to drink. I always went OUT at night and hid in the black shadows. There was a lot of rubbish now that swirled in the wind and many carrion crows hovered overhead, their black feathers fluttering in the never ending howling wind. I scouted the area but I was always CAREFUL not to be noticed in my super suit. I could defend myself as it had some sort of shielding but I was worried it would lose power as I had no idea where or what or indeed how it was powered, or where the power source was from. It had a camouflage setting which I only used if The Spawn was near or I was spotted. It was like a protective shield and a blessing… I picked up the helmet and noticed it was still flashing “Elysium” blinking on and off. I could get rid of it and would try to find this Elysium one day, soon. IT WAS QUIETER TODAY not much sound. Animals were absent; no dogs, no cats …. most had been either eaten or were killed by the initial blast. If that didn’t kill you the radiation would like most humans who were vaporised. The acceptation was those scavenging crows which somehow survived. I was one of the lucky ones cause I knew something was coming for years. The signs of the end times were all around. There were always wars and rumours of wars. These were birthing pains before the final delivery of judgement on the human race. Now it was too late; demons roamed the destroyed cities led by hideous creatures from the underground. *I didn’t have to sleep to see nightmares.
