NIA ANDREWS Whenever artist Nia Andrews steps to the stage, the room around her falls into the dreamy world she paints. The singer-songwriter’s unique vision and expressive aesthetics fly high over her undeniable legacy in the artistic culture of Los Angeles. After touring internationally as a background singer for artists Janelle Monae, Lauryn Hill and Common, penning vocals for bourgeoning stars such as Kelela, celebrated voices such as Jill Scott and appearing on Solange’s #1 album A Seat at the Table, it was a long-time coming for Nia to step center stage with her debut album, No Place Is Safe. With this project Nia shows her range as a powerhouse producer in her own right, having written, arranged and produced the album to add an impressive new chapter to the musical narrative of Los Angeles. The self-taught musician and producer has become a seminal voice at live venues across Los Angeles’ thriving music scene and worldwide. She was the opener for Corinne Bailey Rae’s West Coast US tour, and made her Europe debut at ÜberjazzFestival in Hamburg, Germany, where she also played Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival in Leysin, Switzerland. No matter the setting or the sound – whether serving her raw emotion behind the piano, singing at a wild underground party, or alongside pop’s heavy-hitters – one thing remains the same: Nia Andrews brings a magic like nothing else.
