Serial Killer Vibes by Trunky Juno published on 2021-05-18T15:44:07Z Trunky Juno awkwardly greets us with new music yet again, dropping new single ‘Serial Killer Vibes’. True to the wobbly lo-fi textures that Trunky is known for, the latest single is a lovely slice of alt pop that expands upon the already eclectic catalogue of song styles in his repertoire. Returning from a successful yet reclusive 2020 which included the release of the debut Trunky Juno EP ‘Too Many Teeth’, as well as a performance at BBC Radio 1 Virtual Big Weekend, Trunky has been nurturing new tracks and new sounds during Lockdown, and in ‘Serial killer Vibes’ Trunky continues to expand upon his growing and eclectic sonic world, while maintaining his signature lo-fi alt pop tendencies. The song is the musical equivalent of meeting a fist bump with a handshake, then calling someone the wrong name, and then also accidentally insulting their mother while verbally digging a hole that just seems to get deeper and deeper with each word. And even though this incident happened four years ago, its 3AM and you haven’t slept because you’re still thinking about it asking yourself “why did I say that” – now just distil all of that down into a song and you get ‘Serial Killer Vibes’. Speaking about the song, Trunky notes that “'Serial Killer Vibes’ is a track that haunted me for a long time because I knew there was a good song in there, but I just couldn’t figure out how to present it in a way that allowed anyone else to see it too. It’s not really a song about serial killers at all, it’s about perspective, living inside your own head and trying your hardest not to be weird when you just are. It's an ode to painfully awkward exchanges, which is going to become very relatable once we all start trying to interact with each other again.” ‘Serial Killer Vibes’ will be released 28th May 2021 via Young Poet Records.
