He has written three books about songwriting, two of which are published so far and the other is coming out in 2020. His book Love is a Verb has been the inspiration for at least two hit songs: “Love is Something That We Do” (Clint Black) and “Love is a Verb” (John Mayer). He has received a SongU.com "Rising Star" award for his song, "The Man I Could Be." He taught Nick Hexum, his stepson and lead singer of the multi-platinum selling band 311, to play guitar. Bill is the founder of the Santa Fe Songwriter's Circle in Santa Fe, New Mexico and lives part time in East Nashville. He completed writing over 300 songs in 2020.
