My Sister Laura Ann by Daniel Lockhart published on 2024-04-24T12:09:53Z Song based on my Aunt Pat Brandstetters poetry. This song is based on part of the poem My Sister Laura Ann. Only part was used because the poems is longer than fits in a normal song length. Here is the full pom: My Sister Laura Ann (November 2013) Certainly, I was the biggest fan Of my sister, Laura Ann. Dark and curly was her hair Her skin was so lovely and so fair. Her eyes were as blue as blue can be They were as colorful as the sea. When we were little We did quibble. Our parents appointed me her ward. She took that very hard. She did protest and said, “Little sisters are brats and pests.” I definitely put her to test after test. When Laura Ann was fifteen And I was nine our mom Became very ill. For the next two years our Communication was next to nil. Then when Laura Anne was one month shy Of eighteen and I was eleven, We moved in together. It felt like a gift from Heaven!! Mom and Eddie were with us at first But did not stay. Very soon they each moved away. Six baseball fields were across the street For Laura Ann and me that was a great treat. We played ball with the neighborhood kids. I could not hit the ball at all. Laura Ann was great. She always made it to home plate. Jones Park was a short walk away. Summer Sundays we would go swim for the day. Riding a bus across the Mississippi was Always a thrill. Then shopping in St. Louis was Its own kind of funny day to fill. We would find expensive dresses and certainly try them on and not just one. We made it a day for fun. A favorite thing for us two Was to walk up and down our street, Lynch Avenue. We walked in a land of pretend That for us would never end. Sometimes we pretended we were in China wearing Kimonos with an obi around our waist. Other times we were in Italy eating delicious Spaghetti. We rode on camels backs in Africa And sauntered awhile Along the Nile. Paris, the Swiss Alps, Greece, Oh! The fabulous places we traveled And had seen In that wonderful land of our great Big dream. We both worked hard We played hard When twenty-one and fourteen Laura Ann left for Durham And I left for Detroit That time we cried very hard. We have always felt our life together Was a Great Reward, And definitely a time to treasure! Genre ProgRockDan Comment by Graeme Winton Good song! 2024-04-24T17:40:02Z Comment by Vergie Scully yeah!
