you are my lighthouse by clark beholden published on 2022-04-22T18:06:02Z the manner by which we are alienated in the neoliberal era of late capitalism contains within it an infinite matrix of permutations of alienation, but it's really just all one thing. i don't know why there's the coldest kind of comfort when i think of it like that. a mechanism of immediate gratification dominates our day-to-day lives, & when you are pining for someone who, for whatever reason, cannot be with you, well, it's an increasingly frustrating experience when you don't get what you want, to say the least. otherwise happiness or at least satisfaction feels like a few clicks away, but through not having that romantic ideal fulfilled, which as we all know would unlock everything & be the fire escape from this liminal building of alienation, an astronomical regression occurs. this is why most people become not themselves - they start to look more like children in a state of tantrum. i'm not even in a lovelorn state atm (& that distance is the only reason i'm capable of making something like this) but all it takes is a singular song or lyric or poem or sequence for one's body to remember, infinitely. what they don't tell you is that late-stage capitalism can go on for a long, long time. it doesn't get dark enough at night anymore. when i get dental insurance it's over for you bitches.
