EXPLORING THE GENUINE FAKE 01 | Professor Patricia Kingori by WEH Oxford published on 2020-09-11T11:15:55Z Welcome to EXPLORING THE GENUINE FAKE with me, PATRICIA KINGORI (https://www.ndph.ox.ac.uk/team/patricia-kingori), brought to you by the WELLCOME CENTRE FOR ETHICS & HUMANITIES at the UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD. As Principal Investigator of a large WELLCOME TRUST funded project examining fakes, fabrications and falsehoods in health and medicine, one of the concepts I’m looking at is the ‘genuine fake’, the idea that something can be both real and fake at the same time. EXPLORING THE GENUINE FAKE was born out of a workshop at Somerville College, Oxford, in 2019, which brought together people from very different fields to discuss the ‘genuine fake’, some of the challenges and risks it can present, and how we can learn to navigate this minefield when it matters.
