FOUNDATIONAL BUSINESS: '98-'04 DRUM N BASS by Veill published on 2020-09-23T14:49:46Z I'm not usually one to make mixes of specific themes or eras, however bout a month ago I listened to some of J Kenzo's Portal mix series which showcases Techstep from around '97 give or take, and sometimes you just need to hear the classics to remind you of your roots. Also Law, Wheeler and Kola Nut deserve a shout as they've been doing themed Jungle/Drum n Bass mixes since long time. I decided to go with the '98-'04 era because it was the main era I grew up around where I can actually remember when a good portion of these tunes were new. My Dad used to record mixes from radio and buy mix-CDs all the time in them days, and when it came to Drum n Bass he'd always record Fabio and Grooverider's shows as well as the odd DJ Flight, Bailey, or Bryan Gee show as well as a bunch of mix CD's from them and the likes of Marcus Intalex, DJ Marky, Calibre, ST Files, Doc Scott, Andy C etc. Also, there's like a billion 90s Jungle mixes about at the moment so may as well showcase an imo underloved era. One that especially stands out to me is Fabio's Fabriclive 20 CD probs cause it got rinsed to death at home compared to other CD's lol, too many classics on that one lol. As I got older, I started buying my own records when I was about 16, and you just end up picking up these tunes that you used to love but never knew the name of and you just end up growing your collection over time, so heres a mix of a couple of mine!
