He moved with his parents and siblings to Bielin, near Drohiczyn, Polesie. My father was arrested by the Russian NKVD (later KGB) at the end of September 1939 and transported to the labor camp Workutlag, near Workuta, in the Komi Republic of Russia. He survived both Russia and the war; he served as a soldier under General Maczek in the First Polish Armoured Division. After the war he stayed in the Netherlands. He rarely spoke about his wartime experiences. Therefore, Mrs. Wanda's story is a valuable document to preserve. It provides a clear picture of what it was like back then, the hardships the Polish people had to endure, during and after their deportation. A compliment to the creator, Andrzej Gołębiowski. I will regularly follow this station to see if there are more stories. Warm greetings from the Netherlands to all listeners. 2024-02-17T10:37:08Z
