(Neo)liberalism by Why Theory published on 2018-11-21T00:51:34Z In this episode, Ryan and Todd debate the political viability of the term "Neoliberalism." They explore what neoliberalism signifies and whether or not this signifier can function as a building block for the contemporary Left. The episode also delves into the terms used for leftism--like progressivism and emancipatory politics--in order to understand which might be most appropriate. Genre Learning Comment by Christian Lesniak I agree with Ryan, irregardless of Todd's good point. "Neo-liberalism" was a kind of crowbar for me once upon a time, because a younger me thought of myself as liberal, apolitical, and that there was no other way of being, despite always holding many 'leftist' views. The term "Neo-liberalism" was a crutch to get me to reconsider whether I was actually "liberal" or not. I have a small complaint that the dating app Bumble doesn't offer an option to identify as anything left of liberal, but I shouldn't be too mad, as liberalism is the app's obvious ideology. 2024-03-26T19:18:05Z Comment by DocBenway To listen to episodes I download an MP3 off Soundcloud; however, when you click "more" on your episodes, the download button doesn't appear. Apparently there is a button on your end that needs to be clicked. If you could do this for your episodes, it would be much appreciated. 2018-11-26T21:33:47Z
