Will Lawton and the Alchemists Will Lawton Chippenham “There is something of the jazz approach at the core of the sound of Will Lawton and the Alchemists - interesting timings and intricate riffs hung on fluid, free-flowing musical structures - but there richly textured and layer music contains much more besides. Indie melodics, rock weight and progressive meanderings all add poise and power. They could be your best new find of the year.” Dancing About Architecture “Refreshing, fascinating and exciting. Perhaps this is what Tom O’Dell fronting Wilco would sound like if produced by Roni Size? Regardless of how chaotic this sounds, it works. I mean it really works.” The Ocelot Magazine Will Lawton & Weasel Howlett started collaborating in 2015. In January 2018 the pair released their self-financed debut album ‘Fossils of the Mind’ on double vinyl and CD following a successful Kickstarter campaign. The album was recorded at Real World Studios in Wiltshire, England and has received excellent critical acclaim. Since the release of the debut album, the band have grown enlisting the musicianship of Buddy Fonzarelli (upright bass), Ami Kaelyn (guitar and vocals) and Harki Popli (tabla). In 2019 they recorded a part-live album, ‘Abbey House Session’ in an ancient Abbey House in the Wiltshire town of Malmesbury, released in the summer of 2020. Will is a prolific singer/song-writer who has documented his life through his music with various bands and an enviable discography. Significant song writing influences include Ray LaMontagne, Eddie Vedder, Nick Drake and Ben Harper. The band cite music influences ranging from grunge to death metal to progressive rock and jazz including bands such as Tool, Go Go Penguin and Portico Quartet. In 2022, the band recorded three tracks at Play Pen Studios in Bristol. Produced by Patrick Phillips, this collection of songs are due for release in early 2023. The songs reflect the progressive nature of the band and all five musicians have contributed significantly to the writing and recording process.
