William Read William Read London William Read is a half English, half Swedish singer/songwriter that was born 1987 in the mid-west coastal countryside region of Sweden. Has been playing guitar and writing songs since 2001. Trained to be a carpenter and proceeded to work in the construction business to support and fund his more important and significant passion towards music. William started playing music seriously in Januari 2009 when he founded the progressive reggae band "Rub-A-Dub Rebellion" together with work colleague and bassplayer Patrik Anderzon. The band never performed or rehearsed any covers and finally established a decent fanbase and a semi-professional reputation in the home region of the Swedish westcoast. The debut album recording was aborted due to the uninevitable split of the band during the summer/autumn of 2010. After the split, William quit his job, left his flat and sold or gave away most of his possessions to travel Europe living out of a backpack and supporting himself by the means of playing music in the streets sometimes singing as much as 10 hours in a day and in weather conditions as band as -20C degrees, but also from time to time taking on a few self-managed building projects for people he encountered along the journey as a relatively homeless street performer. Was living in London during the end of 2011 and most of 2012, but spent the larger part of the past two years on the road. Spent the last 3 months of 2012 traveling around France and Belgium, mainly being based in Paris. Started a band project called "William Read & The Parisian Ladykillers" and performed some gigs in Paris and Montpellier together with this constillation. The first demo recording and production was done in Paris during November and December of 2012 in "Philou's Pocket Productions" studio, which is a preview of the upcoming debut album that is currently being produced, spring 2013. His musical influences has varied from reggae(mainly Bob Marley and various Trojan roots artists), "Rage against the machine", Delta blues, Jazz, Bob Dylan + other songwriters from the '70ies era to great authors like George Orwell and Noam Chomsky, who on the other hand doesn't have the slightest thing to do with music. His music is written with an intent to spread a message promoting free thinking and awareness, in opposition to ignorance and predjudice and as an experiment of what one can do to compose progressive music with as little theft and borrowing from other artists as possible. It has been described by others as Folk, Rock & Alternative, whilst William himself does not wish to limit his music to any genre or description other than being a songwriter ready to explore most music for future fusions and creations.
