WINE IT UP presents We Run Tings 2019 mixed by DJ Alan by Wine It Up published on 2019-02-13T19:02:21Z Selecting the tunes for this year’s carnival warm-up mix has been an almost impossible task. We have seen a constant flood of quality tunes pouring out of almost every Caribbean island. No longer is T&T dominant when it comes to soca music. The usual suspects like Machel, Kes and Patrice are well represented on this mix, but the main goal was to highlight some lesser known artists and hidden gems you might not have heard yet. The title for breakout star has to go to Mical Teja who's "Want riddim" kicks off the mix. Not only did he produce great riddims like "Want" and "Creole'. He's also responsible for writing "Iron Love" alongside Nailah Blackman. The Spice Isle’s V’ghn firmly established himself as a top rated performer and songwriter on “Trouble In The Morning” and Blaxx’s “Gyal Owner”. Aaron Duncan who has long been compared to Machel because of his young age when he started out has finally came of age on “Back To Basics”. LFS music proved they were no one-hit-wonder with great turns on Precision’s “Osaka riddim” and the “Twin Island riddim” to name a few. St. Lucia’s Krome and Nassis came seemingly out of nowhere with the infectious “Bend Dong For De Hmm” on Krome own’s “Mad Cow Riddim”. All the above seamlessly mixed for maximum enjoyment. As always I wanna shout out my WINE IT UP famalay and send a special thanks for their continuous support. Props to WIU's creative director Josh Ras for lacing us with the most amazing artwork. Shout out to all the artistes, producers and (radio) DJ’s supporting soca music. It’s only getting bigger from here. I hope you will love listening to this mix as much as I enjoyed putting it together.
